Doha: Microsoft Qatar yesterday announced the launch of OryxDev.Net Oryx Developers, the first .Net developer community for the country's technology professionals.

The community has been set up locally by Microsoft Qatar and various .Net user groups, which signifies Microsoft's commitment to recognising the skills of developers in the region. The newly formed community aims to scale the local software economy in Qatar while providing support to technology users through knowledge sharing and best practice forums.

Commenting on the launch, Mohammad Hammoudi, Country Manager, Microsoft Qatar, said, "Technical communities and support resources provide a broad avenue for developers seeking help and information on Microsoft technologies. It also provides opportunities to interact with employees, experts and peers to find solutions and share technical expertise. We remain committed to empowering developers to succeed by using our tools and to making our platform highly extensible."

Community Lead, Ahmed Ali Al Ibrahim added, "Qatar has an abundance of developer talent who aspire to advance their knowledge and skills. The launch of OryxDev.Net provides structured, peer-based educational support to developers in Qatar while giving them the opportunity to develop new skills and learn more about the next wave of Microsoft technologies.
