KUWAIT, Feb 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Khaled Al-Sabah said Thursday his ministry spared no effort to reveal the destiny of Kuwaitis missing in action (MIAs) and prisoners of war (POWs).
"This issue is a top priority for Kuwait," Sheikh Jaber told reports during a surprise visit to the General Department of Criminal Evidence here.
The minister was received there by director general of the department Brigadier Eid Abu-Salib and assistant director general Brigadier Fahad Al-Dosari as well as chiefs of affiliate divisions of the department.
During the tour, Sheikh Jaber was briefed on the tasks and organizational structure of the department.
He also watched a documentary on the tasks and mechanisms of the recognition center which adopts scientific techniques, including DNI tests, to recognize the Kuwaiti MIAs and POWs following the Iraqi invation of Kuwait, 1991.
Sheikh Jaber voiced appreciation for the efforts of all staffers of the departments of his ministry to reach the desired results and determine the destiny of the Kuwaiti MIAs and POWs and protect the homeland against any security risks.
He conveyed to the leaders and staffers of the departments the best regards of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
During the tour he also inspected various facilities of the General Department of Criminal Evidence and reviewed its operations.
The tour is part of Sheikh Jaber's plan for surprise visits to get first hand knowledge about the performance of the various departments of his ministry.
