Aleppo - Aleppo University and the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF) signed on Monday a memo of understanding on organizing the 2nd Arab Women in Science and Technology Conference.

The memo stipulates that Aleppo University arrange for the conference activities in Syria and provide logistic and administrative support for it.

Rector of Aleppo University Mohammad Nizar Akil said the memo aims at studying the activities related to the conference and agreeing on means of coordination to support the conference, which seeks to bolster the position of Arab women and enhance their role in achieving educational, social and economic development in the Arab world.

Head of the Arab Science and Technology Foundation Abdullah al-Najjar said the foundation seeks to enhance ties among universities and research centers inside and outside the Arab world through partnership in carrying out projects, programs and agreements.

The Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF) is a regional, international, independent non-profit organization based in Sharja, UAE. It is the first such organization that brought together Arab scientists from inside and outside the Arab World with the aim of drawing on the Arab experience in the service of the Arab World.
