MUSCAT -- An international medical exhibition, Medcon 2011, featuring more than 70 participating companies from more than 15 countries, is opening today at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
Dr Ali bin Talib bin Ali al Hinai, Under-Secretary for Planning Affairs at the Ministry of Health (MoH), will preside over the formal inauguration of the event.
The exhibition is the most comprehensive medical event in the Sultanate with focus on three major healthcare areas: medical equipment and technology, medical tourism and treatment, and wellness and fitness.
Organised by Al Nimr Expo, the three-day event will run till Thursday. The expo will remain open from 10 am to 6 pm daily.
Medcon 2011 is likely to attract hospital administrators, doctors, nurses, medical technologists, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals who want to be updated on the range of new health products and the most advanced medical equipment in the market. The international exhibition will also welcome visitors looking for the latest health information, and it is also intended for patients seeking the best available medical care locally or in other parts of the world.
In his comments ahead of the opening of the event, Salim bin Omer al Hashmi, CEO of Al Nimr Expo, said: "With the participation of many exhibitors from all over the world, Medcon 2011 will truly serve the growing requirements of hospitals and clinics in their day-to-day operations while also providing the general public with information on the best medical services that they can avail of for safeguarding their health and well-being."
