BAGHDAD: Head of the National Alliance Ibraheem al-Jaffari discussed with Fadhila (Chastity) Party delegation the main issues on the Iraqi political scene.

Fadhila Party delegation was headed by Secretary General Hashim al-Hashimi.

Both sides stressed the importance of consolidating the National Alliance, as the biggest bloc in the Iraqi parliament.

In a statement by Jaffari's office, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, both sides tackled coordinating views and stands, adopting the dialogue principles and holding the National Conference as soon as possible.

In Arbil and Sulaimaniya, many meetings are held among political entities to determine their stands on the political crisis and have a unified position on withdrawing confidence from Premier Nouri al-Maliki's government.

On Saturday last, the time limit given to the National Alliance by Najaf meeting will end, which demanded a replacement for Maliki.

Parliament speaker Usama Nujaifi said that Najaf meeting gave a one week notice to the National Alliance to replace Maliki; otherwise the confidence will be withdrawn from his government.

Al-Iraqiya Bloc, in coordination with Ahrar bloc, affiliate to the Sadrist Trend, are threatening to withdraw confidence, while the Kurdish stand is still not clear, despite continued criticism made by Kurdish region president Masoud Barzani.

Barzani accused Maliki of "unilaterally controlling power" and described his government as "a loser" and threatened that the Kurdish people will demand self-determination and the proclamation of the Kurdish state.

Premier Maliki hinted on possibility of dissolving the parliament and holding early elections.

For the last nine months, the political entities were trying to find proper solution to the differences, despite the calls of President Jalal Talabani to hold the National Conference.
