MUSCAT -- Masafi and the Environment Society of Oman (ESO) has received an overwhelming response to its recent initiative for the collection of plastic bottles for recycling with nine recycling domes and nine waste units in schools and organisations across Oman collecting over one tonne of plastic waste for recycling. Masafi, a leading producer of natural mineral water in the Gulf, and ESO recently placed these recycling domes and waste units at key locations across the Sultanate, encouraging awareness for waste recycling and uniting the community for the good cause.

Nida Helou, Manager of ESO states: "Everything in nature occurs in a cycle, but humans, by dumping their waste, open the loop of matter cycling. This recycling project aims to close that loop and is part of a bigger ESO project that aims to encourage people to reduce waste production by following the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!" The British School Muscat, Towell Group, PDO School (Qurum), ABA School (Al Khuwair), Nawras, Crowne Plaza, OIG, Sultan School, and Oxy (Ghubra) are currently involved in the project.

Masafi is committed to environmental conservation. Throughout its 29 year history, Masafi has actively participated in projects to benefit the community. Dominic Myers, CEO of Matrah Cold Stores Operating Companies, distributor for Masafi mineral water, said: "We are delighted at this achievement of having already collected over one tonne of waste, and are proud to be a significant part of a project to save the Omani environment from having to absorb this waste. Having started in January, the overwhelming response from the public is great news and we are really eager to place more recycling domes and school waste units in Muscat area at no charge to these institutions or businesses."

All plastic bottles can be collected and recycled as part of this project, so Masafi and the ESO have urged members of the public to make a positive contribution to this cause.  This is a great chance for companies and schools to contribute to recycling and protect the environment, and parties interested in plastic recycling can contact Matrah Cold Stores or e-mail dominicm@mcsoman.com for information on how to be a part of this project.
