Manweir, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mannai Corp recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art engineering facility at Ras Laffan.
A leading engineering services company, Manweir has been serving the onshore and offshore oil and gas majors as well as the petrochemical, power, marine and industrial sectors for the last 37 years.
The facility was recently inaugurated by Abdel Aziz al-Muftah, director (industrial cites) under the patronage of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada.
The event was attended by some 300 dignitaries from upstream and downstream companies from Qatar as well as the Middle East region. It was also celebrated as Manweir-Siemens "customer day" to mark its latest association with Siemens.
Siemens has endorsed the facility as its authorised service centre to repair and overhaul their industrial steam turbines and compressors under their supervision. This demonstrates Manweir's capability to meet world class standards and support global majors to render their services in Qatar, the company said.
Having rendered quality engineering solutions to the energy industry within Qatar and its territorial waters for more than three decades, the engineering facility at Ras Laffan is a part of Manweir's commitment to the growing industrial sector in Qatar. To continue maintaining its prime position as an engineering services provider, Manweir invested has heavily in the latest service centre, the company said.
The objective is to be in close proximity to major offshore operators, GTL, LNG, and power plants at Ras Laffan and provide faster turnaround of engineering support services that are unsurpassed in safety, quality and cost effective solutions all under one roof, it said.

The facility situated at Ras Laffan industrial city's support services area, which is outside the west gate, is built on an area of 46,600sq m with three large workshops and an administration building with covered area of 7500sq m and a large lay-down yard for equipment receiving and storage.
Services offered from this facility include refurbishment and repair of rotating and static equipment such as steam and gas turbines, gas compressor heat exchangers, boilers, electrical transformers, electrical motors, and all types of valves.
The facility is equipped with the advanced CNC machining centres and complete with a wide range of precision inspection, measuring, testing and lifting equipment. Manweir's existing facility at Salwa industrial area will continue to operate and offer its services to meet the needs of onshore oil operations and downstream industries in Doha, Dukhan and Mesaieed area, the company said.
