Dubai, July 11th, 2010 (WAM) -- Obaid Salem Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality for International Affairs and Partnership Sector announced the finalization of the main topics of EnviroCities 2010 International Conference.
The conference is organized by the Environment Centre for Arab Towns under the slogan, "Green Cities," represented by green buildings, sustainable transport, plantation, renewable energy, green economy and heat islands. This came during a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Conference which was held in the presence of members of various committees of the conference. The meeting emphasized the importance of interaction, interdependence and cooperation for the success of this landmark event, which will be hosted by the Emirate of Dubai during 28 to 29 November 2010. The conference is expected to attract over 400 participants from all over the world. Al Shamsi said a range of important topics were identified by the Scientific Committee of the Conference and approved by the Director General of Dubai Municipality. He said green buildings would be one of the leading topics and the focus of attention for a wide section of participants such as engineers and companies in the field paints, air-conditioners, buildings and construction tools. "The issue of sustainable transport will attract a large number of government bodies and authorities, and private companies specialized in the field. The topic of landscaping will attract many of the municipalities and other bodies such as ministries and companies specializing in this area. The conference will also showcase the latest best experiences in this field, and renewable energy will attract many of the bodies and establishments concerned with the application of these projects. The green economy topic will cover the environment-friendly industries, and the last theme, heat islands will discuss ways of controlling the impact of hot areas," said Al Shamsi.
