AMMAN -- Maersk Sealand, an international shipping company, plans to reduce by 33 percent congestion surcharges on containers destined to the Jordanian Red Sea port of Aqaba as of Jan. 1, the official news agency, Petra, reported yesterday.
According to the firm's decision, the surcharges would be reduced to $100 from $150 on each 20-feet container and to $200 from $300 on 40-feet containers.
The reduction applies to cargos heading to Aqaba from North and South Americas, Africa, the Mediterranean, the Middle East and India.
