A Pakistani driver had a narrow escape on Thursday after jumping from the window of his lorry, which had flipped over and blocked the Ras Al Khaimah-Dubai highway.
An officer at the Traffic and Licensing Department said the driver, Mohammad Khan, lost control of his vehicle while trying to carry out a U-turn, near Al Jezera Al Hamra.
Police vehicles and cranes arrived at the scene to lift the lorry and clear the highway, which was blocked for several hours.
The traffic officer called on truck drivers to adhere to the speed limit and only carry legal loads to avoid hazardous incidents.
He added the accident had occurred in one of RAK's key construction areas.
