JEDDAH, 15 January 2008 -- LG Electronics has introduced a new mobile phone that has highly advanced camera features. "The new LG Viewty has a high-speed video recording function which, at 120 frames-per-second (fps), outmatches the speed and performance of even standalone digital cameras," LG General Manager Simon Lee told a press conference here on Sunday.
Equipped with the Viewty's 120 frames per second (fps) video recording function, users can videotape extremely fast action around them and then play it back at much slower speeds of 15 fps.
"Now, you can take pleasure in viewing the everyday motions normally missed by the naked eye, from a bird's wings flapping to a bolt of lighting," he said.
"Consumer demand for high tech mobile phones is at its highest in Saudi Arabia, and we are pleased to be able to fulfill that demand with the Viewty" Lee added.
Asked whether the new product was a mobile with camera or a camera with mobile," he said: "Of course, it is a mobile phone with lot of added camera features. However, its camera features are not meant to compete with those of the professional camera," Lee said.
The Viewty boasts the capability to effectively process more video data than any other existing mobile phones with its high-speed video recording function, offering an impressive quality video recording at 120 fps. "This industry-leading technology represents a perfect balance of functionality and efficiency by matching LG Viewty's memory processing capability with other video systems," Bilal Ali, LG's GSM service manager, said in his presentation.
The Viewty was first introduced in Europe in October and "the feedback and response has been excellent," Simon Kim, senior manager of GSM for Middle East and Africa, said. "With the success of this new mobile there, we are hopeful of even more success across Saudi Arabia," he added.
