BEIRUT: Telecommunications Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui inaugurated Friday a second Call Center International branch in Jdeideh, a northern suburb of Beirut.

The minister said the call centers would create thousands of jobs over the next few years as more international companies set up offices in Lebanon.

“International call centers in India have created 700,000 jobs and caused the GDP to rise by 2.5 percent,” Sehnaoui said. He said Call Center International has signed an agreement with French company SFR to set up offices in Lebanon.

He added that CCI, which already has a center in Batroun, northern Lebanon, could create 1,100 jobs in Lebanon, a figure that has the potential to grow to 2,000 in the future.
