The construction of the country's largest dyeing unit began in Aras Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan.

Announcing this, deputy head of Aras FTZ Organization, Iraj Hatami said that the dyeing unit and a wastewater treatment plant will be built near a textile factory set up by Turkish investors.
About 100 tons of yarn and fibers are to be dyed in the unit, he said adding the wastewater treatment plant will be capable of recycling 2,500 tons of waste materials per day in accordance with global standards, IRNA reported.

The official stated that eight tons of yarns are produced in the factory each day, adding the first phase of the textile factory which became operational late last Iranian year (ended March 20), generated 180 job opportunities.

"Preliminary studies are underway for the implementation of the second phase of the project which was designed in ten phases," he noted.

Hatami said that once all 10 phases become operational, the factory is expected to bring in hard currency revenues of $1 billon annually and generate 27,000 employment opportunities.
