TUNIS (TAP) - Chairman of the High Committee for Administrative and Financial Control (HCCAF) Ghazi Jribi, Saturday, handed the authority's 2011/2012 annual report to Interim Prime Minister Ali Larayedhi.
The talk had focused on the need to address mismanagement of public money, ensure a better coordination between the Audit Office, general control structures and department inspectorates to avoid squandering of public resources and firmly root the principles of transparency and good governance, the official said at the end of the meeting.
He also indicated that he had presented the Interim Premier with a draft law on the reform of department inspectorates, given their role in sharpening administrative and financial control.
The key failings highlighted in the annual report pertain to mismanagement in procurement contracts, some legal processes and municipal and public lands, Jribi pointed out.
The official underlined the possibility of referring these failings to the Finance Disciplinary Court or taking legal action before the criminal court.
According to Jribi, the Prime Minister expressed his support to the draft law on the modernisation of control structures, the purpose being to unify the HCCAF with these structures and ensure their independence.
This will entitle control structures coming under administrations as well as public corporations and enterprises to sign mission orders, he specified.
The official said the report included an exhaustive study of 20 years of activity, affirming that 85% of recommendations had been approved.
Additionally, 2011-2012 annual reports were posted online in a website launched on Friday.
