The InterContinental hotel group has signed contracts to manage new hotels in Lagos and Dubai.
The former, due to open by summer 2006, will have 221 rooms, a health club and outdoor pool and two levels of basement parking.
The latter, scheduled to be completed the following year, will be part of Dubai's waterfront Festival City, a large retail and leisure development on the Creek. It will have 370 rooms, 80 serviced apartments for long-stay guests, meeting rooms with capacities ranging from 12 to 1,000 people and eight restaurants.
Meanwhile, the group is scheduled to open a huge new property in Cairo at the end of next month. The 792-room InterContinental Heliopolis will also be part of a big shopping, entertainment, office and residential project called CityStars. It will have 10 restaurants, a casino, a nightclub, a spa, 16 conference and banqueting rooms and a ballroom said to be the largest in Cairo, with space for 2,200 people.
