DAMASCUS, July 15 (KUNA) -- Undersecretary at the Kuwait National Council for Culture Arts and Literature (NCCAL) Abdulhadi Al-Ajmi affirmed here Tuesday that it was important to reinforce Arab cultural exchange.

Al-Ajmi told KUNA on the conclusion of the Kuwaiti cultural activities week that the participation of the Kuwaiti Minister of Information and the NCCAL chairman Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah boost cultural relations between Syria and Kuwait.

He affirmed that Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled's meetings with Syrian officials focused on means to bolster bilateral relations in the cultural domain, revealing that the Information Minister called for launching joint Syrian-Kuwait cultural activities on the international level.

Al-Ajmi affirmed that the Kuwaiti cultural week in Syria came to support the fellow Arab country's cultural scene especially with the celebration of Damascus as the Arab cultural capital of 2008.

The NCCAL took part in the celebrations with a number of publications and cultural activities, affirmed Al-Ajmi who indicated that the Kuwaiti week attracted many visitors.

Kuwait and Syrian signed in 1968 an agreement to bolster cooperation in the cultural field, making the agreement one of the oldest Arab cooperation deals.
