KUWAIT, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has called for unifying Arab construction codes, said the authority's Director-General Al-Fozan on Saturday.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Fozan said the call was made during meetings of the technical committee of the Arab housing ministers' council in Cairo last week.
These codes include unifying buildings' designs, material and accessories, such a thing would boost Arab economies by increasing commercial exchange through having similar products, he explained.
He noted that the committee has already agreed on the agenda of the upcoming ministerial meeting due in Cairo next month, adding that the committee's recommendations will be submitted to the council for approval.
The design of Fahad Al-Ahmad suburb in Kuwait will be submitted to year's competition for the best Arab residential project, he added.
Kuwait won that competition in the 1980s through Al-Qurain residential project, he said.
Established in 1982 by the Arab League, the Arab housing ministers' council plays the role of coordinating the efforts of Arab nations in housing and development.
