Ban import: EPA
KUWAIT CITY, March 5: The Environment Public Authority (EPA) discovered carcinogenic substances in some toys, paints and detergents available in local markets, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Director of Industrial Environment Department at EPA Mohammad Al-Enezi said many toys imported from China are made of iron and coated with lead. Al-Enezi said these toys, which are available for 100 fils in local markets, have harmful effects on children, especially since they put them in their mouths.
Al-Enezi said all developed countries stopped importing such products and added that EPA will ask the Cabinet to ban the importing of such goods.
In another, unrelated development, Minister of Health Dr Hilal Al-Sayer foiled effort to dismiss Public Health Consultant and the Head of Port and Border Health Unit Dr Hamid Gholoum as Kuwait's representative to the World Health Organization (WHO), reports Al-Shahid daily.

Sources added the minister is eager to reorganize the International Relations Department in the Health Ministry.
