RABAT, Feb 18 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti official here Monday lauded the first ongoing meeting of a Kuwaiti-Moroccan technical oil and gas cooperation committee in Rabat as an opportunity to bolster bilateral cooperation.

Abbas Ali Naqi, undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Oil, was speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), following the inauguration of the two-day session.

The meeting aims to implement a joint memo of understanding that was inked in the sixth session of the supreme joint committee in Fes in Morocco in April, Naqi, head of the Kuwaiti delegation, said.

The importance of the gathering lies in the exploration of fresh horizons for developing and spurring mutual investment in the oil and gas fields, he added.

During the meeting, both sides also mulled over a potential setting-up of oil refining projects, sharing of experience and know-how in energy and cementing of similar views, especially at international oil organizations, Naqi said.

He also hailed the meeting as a genuine opportunity for both sides to highlight that the exchanging of visits among experts and technicians in the energy domain could lead to a further promotion and reinforcement of bilateral cooperative ties. The Kuwaiti delegation to the meeting includes seven senior officials as well as a team of oil and gas experts led by Oil Ministry Undersecretary Abbas Ali Naqi.

The delegation also includes Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs Ali Bin Sebt as well as Kuwait Oil Company official Husna Sayed Hashem. Other members include the head of the planning and international relations section of the Oil Ministry Ahmad Abdallah Al-Sayrafi as well as the head of the planning section of the Kuwait National Petroleum Corporation "KNPC" Bekheit Al-Rashidi, together with Strategic Observer at the Ministry Abdel-Karim Khodr Ayed.
