KUWAIT: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah said that the ministry has concluded its preparations for the month of Ramadan concerning the supervision of charity collections by charity organizations. "We certainly do not mean to put obstacles before charity, but we need to protect it and make sure that the charity collections go to the right channels," Sheikh Sabah noted.
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor's Assistant Undersecretary Mansour Al-Mansour said that the Cabinet has issued a decision and banned the collection of charity through cash donations in order to know the size of the charity and know the means of spending it.
Al-Mansour stressed that the decision was issued in order to be in line with the ministry's plan in this respect. He said the ministry has made coupons starting from KD 0.500 up to KD 20 and charity organizations can get those coupons from the ministry calling upon donators to get the coupons whenever they make a donation.
