KUWAIT, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Cabinet held its weekly routine meeting at the Seif Palace on Monday under the chairmanship of His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Emerging from the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Faisal Mohammad Al-Hajji said the cabinet had considered a message sent to HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from French President Nicolas Sarkozy, inviting the State of Kuwait to attend an international conference for donors of the Palestinian Authority due to be held in Paris on December 17.

The donors' conference is part of the outcomes of the recent Annapolis conference, which aimed to give a new life to the Middle East peace process, the minister said.

During the meeting, the cabinet welcomed a planned visit by Afghan President Hamid Karzai to Kuwait on Tuesday.

The cabinet was briefed on the list of members of the accompanying party of HH the Prime Minister during his coming official visits to Albania and Belgium, which would include Abdel-Rahman al-Oteqi, advisor to the HH the Amir's Office, Ismail Khidr al-Shatti, advisor to HH the Prime Minister's Diwan, Falah Fahad al-Hajri, minister of commerce and industry, Mustafa Jassem al-Shimali, minister of finance, and several other officials and representatives of the private sector, the minister added.

The cabinet stressed the importance of such visits, which aim to open fresh vistas for reinforcing Kuwait's friendly relations with those countries for the sake of both countries' common interests, he said.

Also reviewed at the meeting were recommendations by the Ministerial Committee on Legal Affairs on a draft decree approving a tourist cooperation agreement between Kuwait and Singapore, and another draft decree okaying a memo of understanding between Kuwait and Tunisia in the field of technical cooperation for environmental protection.

The cabinet approved both decrees and would send them to HH the Amir for final approval, Al-Hajji said.

The cabinet also reviewed and okayed a draft law on an agreement between Kuwait and Vietnam on mutual investment encouragement and protection. It will be then sent to HH the Amir as a prelude to referring it to the National Assembly for further deliberations and final approval, the minister said.

A draft decree on new regulations for civil servants' holidays and sports professionalism was also approved.

The ministers also mulled over the National Assembly's affairs, including queries and proposals tabled by some members, as well as issues put on the assembly's agenda.

Reports bearing on the overall current political developments on the Arab and international arenas were finally considered during the cabinet's routine weekly meeting, the minister concluded.
