BEIRUT: A Korean trade delegation is on a weeklong visit to Lebanon to introduce to local businessmen the diversity of products manufactured by small- and medium-size enterprises located in the southern province of Busan.

The products of the participating companies in the trade delegation include orthopedic products, spare auto parts, industrial fans, computer accessories, hot and cool service carts, firefighting systems for vessels, textile machinery and fittings for gas pipes.

The Lebanese market, which according to Korea Trade Center is well aware of the major Korean companies, is already importing chief Korean products including passenger cars and spare parts from Daewoo, Hyundai and KIA, tires, home appliances and electronics from LG and Samsung, mobile phones, computer accessories, imitation jewelry and textile. However, companies from the industrial area of Busan are not well know by the Lebanese market.

"Reconstruction in Iraq has also prompted many Lebanese companies to seek Korean partners. The rise in the euro also witnessed the quest of businessmen seeking Far Eastern sources," said the report released by Beirut's Korea Trade Center.

For the past two years, Lebanon has received delegations from the various Korean industrial provinces including Busan, Kyunggi and Jeonbuk. Another trade delegation is scheduled to arrive in September. An Lebanese trade delegation will also visit Korea in October and local companies will attend the Korea International Machinery Expo 2004.
