The top United Nations official in Iraq arrives the holy Shia city of Najaf on Monday morning to meet the highest religious authority in the country.
Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Martin Kobler "arrives Najaf this morning to interview the Marji of al-Sistani," a local official told "Shafaq News".
"The most important files to be discussed in the meeting are the election and internal political issues in the country".
Ali al-Sistani, a Shia figure is Iraq's highest religious authority, he based in Najaf.
For his part, a source in Najaf's Electoral commission said that Kobler "will meet the electoral staff to discuss the elections and its preparations".
It is worth to mention that a Kurdish official acknowledged that UN recognized the outstanding disputes between the regional and federal governments and announced its support to shape a solution for such problems.
The belonging of the disputed areas in the provinces of Nineveh, Diyala and Salahuddin are of the conflicted issues with Baghdad as well as the identity of the oil-rich province of Kirkuk.
