Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has not cancelled any of its projects -- both in the production and export sectors - except the fourth refinery project, which has been called off by the interim Cabinet in accordance with the recommendations of the Audit Bureau, KNPC Deputy Chairman and Deputy Managing Director of Ahmadi Refinery As'ad Al-Saad said at a press conference Monday.
After his meeting with contractors and vendors currently dealing with KNPC, Al-Saad affirmed the company was not affected by the global financial crisis, but the contractors and vendors were among the worst hit.
He announced the company will offer a unique facilitations package for its contractors and vendors to help them overcome the crisis, so they can in turn support the operations of the company, as "we consider them our work partners, and by supporting them, we support our businesses." He explained the package will include a number of facilitations in procedures and financial terms in the company's contracts.
Al-Saad also unveiled KNPC's plan to establish a service office for local contractors and vendors, which will follow up the company's recommendations regarding the encouragement of local sectors.
He said the office will also receive complaints and suggestions from local contractors and vendors, provide them with information, and set up an e-list of updates and subordinate services that concern them.
A consultative partnership council for Kuwaiti contractors and manufacturers, consisting of representatives from Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Industries Union, Public Authority for Industry (PAI) and KNPC, will be established soon, Al-Saad revealed.
On the environment oil project, Al-Saad confirmed KNPC is finalizing the proposal, which will be presented to the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) Board of Directors. He said the company will implement the project immediately after obtaining approval from the Higher Petroleum Council (HPC).
