MUSCAT -- KnowledgeOman.com, the leading community and knowledge-sharing portal, has been recently invited by the Ministry of Social Development to lead youth workshops during the Omani Youth Gathering summit, held in Al Nahda resort by the 'Youth Vision' organising committee.

As part of the governmental vision of empowering Omani youth, KnowledgeOman.com facilitated the Youth and IT session workshops led by its members Abdullah al Harthy, Deputy Administrator of the Arabic section, and Suad al Shuhaimi, Media Manager.

The Omani Youth Gathering brought together over 100 Omani youth from various backgrounds and industries to acquire new skills, innovate projects for the community, and learn from expert speakers.

The Youth and IT session led by KnolwedgeOman.com forms part of the gathering's youth-projects competition, based on discussions of various problems and issues that face Omani youth with the challenge to propose solution-based practical volunteer projects.

Ten teams participated, with 10 individuals in each team and every two teams with an issue to solve. Abdullah al Harthy and Suad al Shuhaimi assisted participants in analysing the problems of IT usage by youth, identifying the target group and scope of issue, providing the group with facts, statistics and relevant information, and assisting the group to plan and strategise the project in accordance with the Omani scenario.

This promoted volunteer work and the importance of youth initiatives for social development; training youth to search for solutions on various problems faced, and educating them on leadership skills and strategic planning. The group led by Abdullah al Harthy was also awarded first place during the closing ceremony for its winning project proposal among the entire summit participants.
