Amman - His Majesty King Abdullah is scheduled to take part in Nuclear Security Summit which will be held in South Korea during March 26-27 in the presence of a number of world leaders.
The King's participation in the Seoul Summit reflects Jordan's interest and commitment to nuclear security and comes within Jordan's intensive efforts and quest to implement a peaceful nuclear program to secure alternative energy resources and develop traditional local energy resources to reduce dependence on energy imports.
His Majesty is also expected to meet in the Korean capital Seoul with Korean President Lee Myung-bak and heads of the participating delegations in the summit, which will tackle international issues and challenges and make a comprehensive review of progress that have been achieved since the 2010 Washington Summit which was attended by King Abdullah.
The Seoul Summit aims to boost international cooperation as well as coordination between organizations and initiatives on nuclear security including the UN, the International Atomic Energy Agency as well as The Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT).
During his participation in the Washington Summit, the King urged the world community to institutionalise cooperation and work out effective mechanisms to ensure the flow of information to help partners keep nuclear weapons away from the hands of terrorists.
