Fez, Morocco, May 13th, 2009 (WAM)--King Mohammed VI, of Morocco, held talks with HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at the Royal Palace in Moroccan city of Fez.

Sheikh Mohammed conveyed to the King of Morocco greetings President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

King Mohammed VI asked Sheikh Mohammed to pass on his greetings to Sheikh Khalifa and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. He praised the progressive relations between the two countries.

King Mohammed VI and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed reviewed bilateral ties and ways to boost cooperation, particularly in economic and investment fields. They also discussed topics of mutual interest.

Present were H.H. Sheikh Dhiyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA), Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.E. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Dr Hamdan Musalam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, and Saeed Humaid Al Jari, UAE Ambassador to Morocco.

After the talks, King Mohammed and Sheikh Mohammed attended the signing ceremony of the agreement on the additional two power plants' units of 350 megawatt each worth Moroccan Dh10 billion at Al Jurf al Asfar in Morocco.

As per the agreement, the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and its subsidiary at Al Jurf Al Asfar will supervise, fund, operate and maintain the project. International tenders will be invited for construction of the units 5 and 6.

A contract will also be signed, obliging the National Electricity Office in Morocco to buy electricity produced by the two units during period of 30 years in line with the power production system.

Mohammed Ahmed Al Bawardi, secretary general of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Abdul Mujeed Iraqi Husseini, manager of TAQA Al Jurf Al Asfar signed on behalf of TAQA, while Al Fasi Al Fahri, director general of the National Electricity Office signed on behalf of Morocco.

King of Morocco hosted a dinner in honour of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince. It was attended by the members of delegation accompanying Sheikh Mohammed and Moroccan senior officials.

Sheikh Mohammed and his accompanying delegation visited the Mausoleums of King Mohammed V and King Al Hassan II.
