One of the key cement factories in Khor Khowair of Ras Al Khaimah will install Dh27 millions worth of major filters in the coming few days so that all the cement factories in the area will be standing by their commitments.
This was the last cement factory to install the filters and once the work is complete, all the cement factories in Khor Khowair would have all the filters to get rid of industrial dust that used to bother the residents.
Dr. Omar Yagi, the Environmental Consultant at the Ras Al Khaimah Environmental Protection and Industrial Development Commission said that the work of installing the filters in that cement factory would take only few days.
"By mid-August, the industrial area of Khor Khowair in Ras Al Khaimah will be completely free of industrial dust and the area will end up being an environmentally friendly area," he said.
The cement factories in Khor Khowair have allocated huge budges to implement environmental projects recommended by the Ras Al Khaimah Environmental Protection and Industrial Development Commission to protect the area from the industrial dust.
"These cement factories have exerted huge efforts and implemented such expensive environmental projects to avoid any industrial pollution in the area" he said.
"Mid-August will be the deadline for the authority to announce Khor Khowair clean of any dust, and that deadline has been observed by all the cement factories" he added.
He explained that the filters which the cement factories installed would play major role in controlling the dust coming from the factories and limit it to the international standards.
