ABU DHABI, Sep. 30th, 2008: President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has performed the Eid el-Fitr Prayer today morning at the Zayed Mosque (Grand Mosque) in Abu Dhabi.
Also at the mosque to perform the prayers alongside the UAE President were General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, H.H Sheikh Saif Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, H.H Sheikh Suroor Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hazza' Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, H.H Lt. Gen. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Interior, H.H Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Head of the Abu Dhabi Emiri Flight, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian works HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, minister of Presidential affairs, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Chairman of Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President's aide d'camp, H.H Sheikh Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Head of the Department of the Financial Department, H.H Brigadier Sheikh Saeed Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Deputy Inspector General at the Ministry of Interior, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamed Al Nahyan, Special Advisor to H.H the President, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, Dr Sheikh Ahmed bin Saif Al Nahyan, Chairman, Etihad Airways and Sheikh Hazza' Bin Sultan Bin Zayed. Also at the mosque to perform Edi Prayer were other Sheikhs, Ministers and civil and military officials, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the UAE and a large number of UAE nationals and Muslim expatriates. The Eid sermon was delivered by Sheikh Ai Al Hashimi, Advisor at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. He stressed on the significance of vesting relatives to further boost love and respect in the community. He also touched a wide range of topics and called for tolerance, Zakat and almsgiving among peoples of the world. He also preached about Salat (prayer), fasting, reciting Quran and called on Muslims to take it as the guidebook and constitution. He prayed for the soul of the late UAE leader, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He also prayed to God to protect Sheikh Khalifa, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed and Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council Rulers of the emirates. Later Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed and the rest of the congregation visited the tomb of the late Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan where they recited the Fatiha for his soul and prayed to Allah the Almighty rest his soul in perfect peace in Paradise.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2008.
