Abu Dhabi, July 8th, 2006 (WAM) -- The Information Affairs Officeof H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister has published a new study entitled "Khalifa Bin Zayed and Economic Development".
It tackles the role of HH President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed AlNahyan in formulating the economic development policy in the UnitedArab Emirates (UAE). The study displays the developmental experience in all its dimensions,plans, and goals, as well as its achievements in the fields of urban awakening,the accelerating pace of economic and social development. And as Chairmanof the Supreme Petroleum Council, Sheikh Khalifa personally directs theworks of the Council in order to serve national interests. The book touches upon Sheikh Khalifa's initiative of opening oilindustry through putting in place ambitious plans to manufacture oil andnatural gas, and building solid bases for petrochemical industry. At a broad policy level, HH Sheikh Khalifa always reiterates theimportance of diversifying national income sources by creating new economicsources that support national economy, the study says, noting that theseefforts have borne its fruits in expanding other various productive activitiesand services, which reduce the country's dependency on oil as a primeand unique source of income. Sheikh Khalifa also gives special interests to directing investmentstoward industry and factories building, making UAE replete with factorieswhich produce different products, the study points out.
