DAMMAM - King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and telecom company Mobily have discussed a number of aspects of cooperation and ways of building a strategic partnership between the university and the company for cooperation in research.

This was accomplished during a recent visit by a delegation from Mobily. They held a meeting with Dr. Khalid S. Al-Sultan, Rector of KFUPM, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Homoud, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, and a number of other officials.

They also explored the company's participation in the development of smart classrooms and e-learning and interactive meeting rooms, in addition to both parties cooperation in the field of social responsibility and community service.

Mobily has offered KFUPM a number of services that can be provided to enhance the technical infrastructure at the university in all academic and research facilities and the housing of faculties and students.

The offer included telecommunications services, Internet, and provision of optical fiber solutions for the housing of faculties and students, as well as a special offer on the scope of Internet solutions, linking the university with its branches, information technology services such as managed and cloud services and cover the university with the latest wireless services (such as 4G, WIFI, WIMAX), disclosed a latest KFUPM press release.

According to Dr. Marwan Al-Ahmadi, the modern techniques re-builds the educational process and the methods of providing education to the recipients and the relationship between learners and teachers.

He also pointed out that education has become dependent on the link between all interested parties by information technologies and modern communications, providing more communication and direct contact.

He added that Mobily is eager to benefit from the capabilities of university's research with focus on the research of cloud services and mobile phone applications.
