Dubai: Jumeirah Group confirmed on Sunday the resignation of its chief executive officer, Stefan Leser, although the company did not disclose reasons behind his departure.
In a statement to Gulf News on Sunday, Jumeirah Group said a search for Leser’s replacement has been initiated and in the meantime, Marc Dardenne, the group’s chief operating officer, will run the business.
Dardenne will work closely with Edris Al Rafi, chief executive officer of Dubai Holding, which owns Jumeirah Group, to run the business.
According to Jumeirah’s website, however, Dardenne was appointed as interim CEO in May 2017, and Leser is no longer listed as part of the company’s management team. The interim CEO is also still listed as chief operating officer.
Dardenne has more than 30 years of experience, having worked in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. He joined Jumeirah as COO in September 2016.
“Dubai Holding and Jumeirah Group thank Stefan for his service and contribution to the development of the iconic Jumeirah brand,” the statement from the company said.
Since joining Jumeirah Group in early 2016, Leser was responsible for overseeing the delivery of the group’s performance. This included projects such as the Burj Al Arab Terrace, and overseeing the completion and launch of Jumeirah Al Naseem, the group’s latest luxury hotel destination.
