Dubai: Jumeirah Golf Estates, a premier residential golf development and host venue for the Dubai World Championship from 2009, on Saturday announced that it has awarded two key building contracts for Phase A of the property development to ANC Contracting and Al Naboudah Laing O'Rourke Co LLC.

ANC Contracting is building 99 villas within the Flame Tree Ridge community and 66 villas in the Fireside community. The preparatory works are completed and construction of the villas is underway.

Norman Clubhouse

Al Naboudah Laing O'Rourke Co will construct the Whispering Pines cottages and casitas, together with the prestigious Norman Clubhouse and ancillary buildings.

"We are delighted to formally announce ANC Contracting and Al Naboudah Laing O'Rourke Co LLC as key contractors for properties at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

"Both firms are now part of the team delivering not only unique world-class courses but what will be on completion the most desirable residential communities in Dubai," said David Spencer, Chief Executive Officer - Golf for Leisurecorp, the owner of Jumeirah Golf Estates.

The first phase of villas at Whispering Pines has been excavated for the foundations. The underground piping work is completed and construction is on schedule.

The Norman Clubhouse, which broke ground in December, is also moving along and excavation for the foundations is in progress.

Features

The 107,000 square foot clubhouse will be home to an ultra-modern practice and golf academy, as well as restaurants, bars and a spa.

The clubhouse's sports centre will feature a fully equipped gymnasium, tennis centre, lap pool and a leisure-focused lagoon.

Meanwhile, work on the Earth and Fire golf courses is advancing, with the grassing of the Earth course to be completed by May and the Fire course by August.

This will provide for two full growing seasons, allowing for optimal agronomic conditions and superior playing surfaces ahead of the 2009 deadline date.
