Amman (Petra) - HRH Prince Hamzah, head of Al Shajarah, on Thursday launched the "Asfour-Mqableh" forest, part of national efforts to increase green cover in the Kingdom and preserve the environment. As part of the project, funded by the United States Forestry Services, around 6,000 trees will be planted in a 100-120 dunum plot in the northern Jerash Governorate administered by the Ministry of Agriculture's forest department. The trees include native indigenous species known to be more adaptable and sustainable in Jordan' climate such as oaks, pines, carobs, as well as wild strawberry and pistachio trees.
