AMMAN - The German-Jordanian University (GJU) held a workshop last week entitled, "Workforce in the Jordanian ICT Industry: Competency-based Evaluations and Needs Assessment", reviewing the results of a comprehensive survey on ICT sector workforce requirements.
Minister of Information and Communications Technology Bassem Roussan said the study sought to identify ways in which to bridge the underlying gap between industry demands and workforce supply in the ICT sector by highlighting "quality education" as a force of change tailored to meet the needs of the market and strategic employment. GJU President Labib Khadra said the university will develop modern and practical ICT-related educational programmes compatible with international standards.
The workshop was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Information Technology Association - Jordan (int@j) with the support of the EU commission - Education and Culture TEMPUS and the USAID-Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ).
