AMMAN (JT) - The 166point6 Dive Team will descend into Aqaba's clear blue waters in an attempt to set a new depth record in Jordanian waters on Friday, July 29. The divers will set sail from the passenger terminal in Aqaba on the Sea Star Water Sports dive boat to the Aqaba Gulf coral reef known as the Power Station reef at 9:30am, according to a statement released by the organisers. The 166point6 Dive Team consists of key representatives of Jordan's diving industry, international dive industry specialists? and former Australian, British and American servicemen working in Jordan. They hope to encourage the sport of scuba diving, draw international attention to Aqaba, as a prime venue for recreational diving and boost regional and international awareness of the importance of protecting the coral reef environment, the statement said.
