Jordan has headed the 64th ministerial ordinary session of the Arab Economic Unity Council which was held in Cairo Thursday to discuss issues pertaining to Arab economic action as well as the Palestinian issue.
Jordan's Ambassador to Egypt Bishr Khasawneh, who headed Jordan's delegation to the meeting, said in remarks that the Arab region is passing through a state of political and economic instability, urging the council to follow up on developments in the region and establish bodies that predict economic crises and work to address them.
Khasawneh voiced hope that recommendations of the session would contribute to boosting joint Arab economic action.
Recommendations of the session focus on the Palestinian issue and Arab economic action.
The council highlighted the need to achieve Palestinian reconciliation and support Egypt's efforts in this regard. It also urged Arab countries to fulfill their financial obligations towards the Palestinian National Authority in line with Arab summits resolutions.
The council expressed rejection of Israeli measures in Jerusalem and condemned Israeli settlement activities and excavations around Al Aqsa Mosque.
