JEDDAH -- The Japan-Saudi Arabia Industrial Cooperation Joint Task Force is accelerating its activities in the Eastern Province. 

The delegation from the task force has completed survey interviews seeking investment opportunities with 27 Saudi companies and organizations, including 8 companies in the Eastern Province, from Jun 8 to 19. The task force also aims to establish the Japan Desk in the Eastern Province as a base for their activities in that region.

The survey interviews conducted by the task force was meant to understand the needs of the Saudi industry for Japanese products or technologies that would improve added value to Saudi business. The Task Force is going to utilize its result for their activities of business matching between Saudi and Japanese companies. They conducted 29 interviews in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Eastern Province from June 8 to 19.

They have conducted similar activities in 2009 and 2011. This is the third mission. Renewable energy and high energy efficient machinery, recycling business, and healthcare products have been more focused comparing with the past surveys, along with the general direction of the Kingdom. 

The task force is experiencing unprecedented scale of interests from Japanese companies to the rapidly growing Eastern Province industry. The Task has strong desire to respond to the inquiries both from Saudi and Japanese companies.

The Japan-Saudi Arabia Industrial Cooperation Joint Task Force was established in 2007 in accordance with a joint statement issued by the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah. Both Japan and Saudi Arabia have organized task force teams which consist of governmental organizations and private sectors to promote industrial cooperation.
