'Perilous Phase'
KUWAIT CITY, March 22:
MP Ali Al-Rashid says the amendment of the report on the storming of the National Assembly is a case of forgery, adding that political scene of Kuwait is going through a dangerous phase because in the past, no lawmaker would have shown the courage to change a report of such severity, reports Al-Shahed daily.
During a seminar he revealed that the head of the parliament's security guards was requested by MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei to open the Parliament gates for an MP's entry. However, when the gate was partially open, the protestors rushed in by force, injuring some guards who tried to contain them.
He pointed out that the current Parliament speaker considered this incident an iniquity and the lawmakers involved in this incident should be punished.
Meanwhile, MP Musallam Al-Barrak submitted a number of queries to the Minister of Oil regarding the projects of Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) which is a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Company (KPC) handling petroleum projects in Europe and East Asia.
Through the queries, Al-Barrak demanded information about the project of establishing a refinery in China, the gross cost of the project, the partners, the procedures followed by KPC to identify the reasons for delay in finalizing the project.
He also demanded information about the project of establishing a refinery in Vietnam. He asked for information regarding the international marketing manager in charge of the two projects.
In another development, MP Mohammad Hayef asked Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah regarding the regulations and conditions to get licenses for SMS services and other matters, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
He asked - What is the legal procedure taken in this regard? Are there any violations registered in this domain? Which companies, institutions and individuals have received licenses for live broadcasting? What are the names of the managers working in satellite TV channels in Kuwait? Did these channels meet the recruitment conditions specified in audio-visual law no 61/2007?
Meanwhile, MP Ahmad Bin Motee' asked Interior Minister to ban civil gatherings which oppose the Islamic Sharia; in addition some of them are trying to topple the rule of Al-Saud in Saudi Arabia.
"We will not allow anyone to spread poison in our Kuwaiti society. It is not a cultural conference aimed to reform a nation but an attempt to pollute the minds of individuals," he said.
