Bapco has introduced a major IT system which is expected to have a significant impact on the management of employee learning and development.
Chief Executive of Bapco Faisal Al Mahroos, recently officially introduced the new 'Saba Learning Management System', dubbed 'Masaar'.
"Masaar will support all of us at Bapco in managing our people.
We all focus on our technical business, and this is right and proper, but we also have a clear responsibility to manage our people and their development as well as our processes. Masaar will help us to be more efficient in this, since it provides line of sight access to the learning and development activities of everybody who reports to us."
From general managers to supervisors, every employee who manages other employees will be able to oversee all aspects of employee learning and development. Additionally, all employees will have their own learning homepage listing their scheduled learning activities.
As well as managing learning and development, Masaar also has the capability of storing and distributing e-learning resources. The system also provides a wide range of management reports, covering all aspects of employee development.
Commenting on the new system, Training and Development Manager, Ahmed Tahery, stated: "We will develop Masaar to incorporate competency frameworks, to manage compliances and to manage a wider range of development programmes for a greater number of employees. We will also be making increasing use of Masaar's capability to distribute and manage e-learning content, as it becomes more and more a part of the way we learn at Bapco. And, most importantly, we have taken an important step towards meeting the expectations of young Bahrainis who have grown up in the internet age.
These leaders of tomorrow expect online learning and online systems to manage it, and Masaar will provide this."
