Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan Prov - Senior Sunni cleric of the northwestern city of Piranshahr said Tuesday that Irans Islamic establishment led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is practicing divine rules.

"Father of the Islamic Revolution, the late Imam Khomeini, was the cause of Muslims unity in the contemporary world," Mamosta Mostafa Mahmoudi, Piranshahr Friday prayers leader said in his address to a meeting of Sunni and Shiite Muslims in the southeastern provincial capital city of Zahedan.

The meeting was held on the occasion of the Islamic Unity Week, marking the Birth Anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

The Islamic Unity Week was initiated by the late Imam Khomeini following the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979. Since its inception, the Islamic Unity Week has been marked annually, not only in Iran, but also throughout the world, and has played an important role in bringing the various Islamic Schools of Thought on a single platform.

He stressed that enemies of Muslim nations, in order to serve their own interests, have created discord among Shiite and Sunni Muslims and tried to widen the gap between the two Islamic sects.

Mamosta Mahmoudi urged Sunni and Shiite Muslims to consider their common points and try to achieve full solidarity.
