BARDO - Deadlocks hampering consensus about the election of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE II) Council were ironed out, said Spokesperson for the Quartet sponsoring the national dialogue Mohamed Fadhel Mahfoudh.

Mahfoudh was speaking at the end of a meeting which gathered, on Tuesday afternoon, representatives of the sponsor organisations and President of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) Mustapaha Ben Jaafar.

He expressed hope to get down to the task of forming the council as of Tuesday evening.

The meeting also examined compromises regarding the draft constitution and the relevant report of the expert committee, Mahfoudh indicated.

The constituent process "is making steady progress," he further said.

The meeting was attended by the NCA President, the Secretary-General of Tunisia's General Labour Union, the Chair of the Tunisian Trade, Industry and Handicrafts Union, the President of the Tunisian League of Human Rights and the President of the Bar.
