MUSCAT -- ISACA Muscat Chapter, which operates under the auspices of the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), will be conducting its monthly educational programmes for the year 2006 on the theme of IS (Information Systems) Audit.

The first programme in the series entitled, 'IS Audit An Overview', will be held tomorrow at the college premises at 7.15 pm. Rama K Subramaniam, CEO Valiant CISSTECH, Chennai will deliver the inaugural lecture.
 
The IS Educational Series will be inaugurated by Kenneth MacFarlane, Partner of PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

The educational series is primarily meant for the benefit of members and is an avenue for certified members to fulfil their Continuing Professional Educational (CPE) requirements.
 
However, this inaugural programme is open to all those who are interested in joining as members with a view to enhancing their IT audit, systems and security awareness and keep pace with the latest knowledge base in these areas.

Sam Pandian, Programme and Education Chairperson, explained that each month one topic will be covered. "This year we will pack our activities with core subject content. Experts with extensive practical experience will be invited to present each topic in an understandable language.

Each member can expect to see how the technical and functional components complement each other. Our emphasis is to break the myth of IT and make it easily understood," he added. The IS Education Series will focus on IT Audit at four different levels Network, Operating Systems, Applications and Database. These levels will be supplemented with topics relating to IT Strategy, IT Security, Policies and Procedures and Disaster Recovery Planning.

ISACA Muscat Chapter, established in the year 2000, has been spreading the awareness of IS Audit, Control and Governance in the local community. Currently the Chapter has 238 members including students who preparing for CISA and CISM examinations. It regularly conducts quality educational activities for the benefit of its members and review classes for its students.
