Iran's Minister of Agriculture, who is currently in Nairobi to take part in Iran-Kenya Joint Commission meeting, and the country's Prime Minister Raila Odinga stressed the need to strengthen bilateral ties and exchange of information.

In a meeting with him Wednesday, Eskandari submitted Vice President Parviz Davoudi's letter of invitation to him.

Referring to the historical record of the two countries' relations and his country's willingness to expand ties with Iran, Odinga said that Iran's private companies can undertake joint ventures with the country in the fields of road construction, power generation, renovation of railway and development of telecommunications projects.

He also called on Eskandari to raise and discuss the export of tar, oil and gas from Iran to Kenya at the ongoing meeting of the commission.

Pointing to the high capabilities of Iran in tractor manufacturing industries and other fields, he also sought Iran's assistance in launching production lines of tractor and motor cycle in the country.

He also voiced his country's readiness to cooperate with Iran in the field of cultivating tea and coffee.

Eskandari, for his part, said that Iran is ready to transfer agricultural experiences to Kenya.

Stressing the need to implement the concluded agreements, he also said that his ministry is interested in cooperation in the arenas of fisheries, agricultural products, water, and forestation.
