DUBAI, 5 August 2007 -- The Gulf chapter of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) will host the second IPRA regional conference and exhibition in Bahrain in November 2008, the chapter's board of directors announced at a meeting in Dubai recently.
PR practitioners from around the Middle East, Levant and North Africa are expected to attend the conference, part of a series of IPRA-Gulf Chapter (IPRA-GC) activities planned to raise standards and awareness of PR practices in the region.
"We at IPRA-GC are determined to showcase PR's true capabilities and its promise for the region, its businesses and individuals," said Chapter President Hasan J. Al-Hasan.
In addition to developing the skills and expertise of PR practitioners in the region, the Gulf Chapter will also work toward supporting the international image of the region, its people and its nations, he added.
IPRA-GC will also activate a membership drive throughout the region and boost in-country activity via networking and educational opportunities, seminars and workshops. The board also plans to start a quarterly magazine for members, and will appoint a six-member Board of Trustees from the private sector to further its aims. The names of the trustees will be announced in the last quarter of 2007.
The board meeting, held recently at the Shangri-La hotel, was attended by IPRA representatives from each of the GCC countries headed by Hasan Al-Hasan, president and head of the board of directors, including Ahmed ibn Ali, IPRA-GC senior vice president; Sultan Al-Bazie, vice president of IPRA Saudi Arabia's Central Region Chapter; Jassim Al-Shuwaikh, vice president for Membership; Mohammed Al-Domaini, director for Media and Public Relations; Jassim Fakhroo, vice president, Qatar; Sunil John, representative of UAE National Chair, IPRA; and Hassan M.
