KUWAIT: An Indian private school located in Khaitan reportedly refused to admit female students wearing a hijab (headscarf), according to several parents. One parent said that the management refused to admit his daughters and asked that girls remove their hijab to be granted admission. He said that all his attempts to convince the school to accept them were futile.
He appealed to Education Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Muna Al-Loughani to investigate the matter, reports Alshahed. Meanwhile, the Education Ministry(MOE) is ready to begin the new academic year starting Sunday, with 55,000 employees and teachers reporting to work.
Preparations are being made to receive more than 374,000 students distributed over 799 schools in all stages. The kindergarten level begins on Sept 16, first elementary level on Sept 17. The intermediate and secondary levels will begin on Sept 23rd, reports Aljarida.
