Dubai: The International Media Production Zone (IMPZ), a member of Tecom Investments, has completed its Dh235 million infrastructure development, spread across 42 million square feet of land, a statement said on Tuesday.
The first of IMPZ's five sub-stations has also been energised to supply power to the industrial and residential areas in the free zone.
Built at an investment of Dh73 million, the sub-station is equipped with a capacity of 160 megawatts. The second sub-station is scheduled for completion by 2011.
IMPZ is dedicated to the graphic arts, printing, publishing and packaging (3P) industries, and strategically located ten minutes away from the upcoming airport in Jebel Ali.
Hamad Huraiz, executive director of IMPZ said: "The completion of the infrastructure will facilitate our business partners to commence operations from the cluster. Roads, parking areas, street lighting, drainage, bus stops and road signage are now accessible to all parties based at the free zone.
"IMPZ's partnership with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority [Dewa] in the sub-station complex is crucial to the on-time delivery of the project. Only few sub-stations are energised prior to the completion of the project, relying until then on temporary power sources.
"We are pleased to assure our investors that their operational requirements will be fully met by a reliable single source power supply complex."
IMPZ extends a wide range of investment opportunities for the graphic arts, printing, publishing and packaging industries, and its ancillary entities.
Offering attractive options from land leasing to state-of-the-art pre-built units, the cluster will also include office and warehousing spaces, as well as residential developments along with other utilities designed to meet the requirements of media production companies operating across the world.
Target
IMPZ aims to complement Dubai's vision of becoming a global media destination by providing a pro-business environment in the midst of a unique production cluster.
The IMPZ team will relocate to the 'Gate House', the new state-of-the-art headquarters in early 2008.
