DOHA: IGTC-Chubb Fire, the world's leading expert in fire protection, safety and security solutions, has signed an agreement with Qatar Petroleum for the maintenance and repair of portable fire extinguishers at Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC).

The agreement covers both low and high pressure extinguishers and IGTC-Chubb Fire will carry spare parts stocks for a dozen makes of extinguishers for different brands including Chubb Fire, Kidde, Angus Fire, Bristol, Valgar, UNIX, and much more.

IGTC-Chubb Fire Qatar shall supply all adequate and competent labor, supervision, tools, equipment, transportation, installed and consumable materials, services, testing devices and warehousing and each and every item of expense necessary to provide Maintenance and Repair of the fire extinguishers and trolley units within Ras Laffan City. IGTC-Chubb Fire Qatar shall collate the maintenance and repair results and transmit a report to Ras Laffan Fire Department in addition to providing Inspection Certificates for all work carried out.

Rami Al-Batrawi, General Manager of IGTC-Chubb Fire in Qatar, explained that this is both an important and unique project. "Clearly this shows that large companies such as Qatar Petroleum have a great deal of trust in our firm for such important work in the safety arena, and we fully appreciate the confidence that they are showing in us.

"Every week we will collect a batch of fifty mixed-type extinguishers from Fire Station 2 in Ras Laffan and examine them individually for corrosion, returning those that fail this test to RLC for scrapping. Any devices that need new parts such as pins, o-rings, nozzles and so on will be serviced whilst pressure indicating devices will be checked and the results collated and transmitted to the Fire Department.
