Mr. Hatem Ben Salem Minister of Education met on Friday in Tunis, with the Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf countries, Mr. Ben Ali Abdelkhalek Al Karni, to discuss the forthcoming teacher training workshop in information and communication technologies (ICT) for the Arab Maghreb and Gulf countries.

This project which is part of the educational development plan in the Arab world, aims at promoting educational skills and empowering teachers to master new educational processes and methods.

The meeting also helped to review ways to further expand  cooperation in the education and training sector and coordinate efforts in order to address the issue of quality regarding development of human resources.

Mr Ben Salem stressed the importance of national education systems in Arab countries in monitoring digital progress and in producing educational programs and digital educational contents.

He evoked the many educational reforms undertaken in Tunisia namely the upgrading of foreign language teachers and the use of ICT to deliver educational and teaching contents, adding that 136, 000 teachers will have access to the ministry's upgrading program in ICT .

For his part, Mr. Ben Ali Abdelkhalek Al Karni , expressed the interest of the Arab Bureau of Education for Gulf States namely in terms of cooperation and the exchange of expertise with Tunisia noting that the Bureau's  purpose is to modernize educational systems in the Arab world.

He also stressed the importance of implementing a teacher training strategy in the  production of digital educational contents.
