MUSCAT -- HSBC Oman recently organised a family outing at Sawadi Beach Resort. It was a day aimed to bring HSBC staff together with their families for a fun-filled day with activities organised by the HR team. As part of the 60th anniversary celebration, the Oman communications team organised a 'Future First Toy Drive' in co-ordination with Dar Al Atta'a. The objective of the Toy Drive is to encourage staff to donate used or new toys and books towards underprivileged children in Muscat. Mariam al Zidjali, Chairperson and Samira Sultan, a member of the Association also attended the programme.
To extend further support for the Association, HSBC CEO Ewan Stirling gave away a cheque of RO 42,700 to Mariam al Zadjali, and said: "We are delighted to provide the Association with this donation to support their fundraising activities towards underprivileged students in Oman.""This donation was partly provided by HSBC staff, where they gathered at a regional level to support the continued rehabilitation effort for the people affected by the adverse climatic condition prevailed in Oman. Dar Al Atta'a has been instrumental in the process of rehabilitation of underprivileged families in Muscat and we wish them all the best for the future," he added.
While receiving the cheque, Mariam al Zadjali said: "HSBC's support over the past years has been very valuable to the Association as it helped us equip underprivileged students with necessary stationary, meals and uniforms." "The books collected today through the Future First initiative will contribute towards our existing drive 'Let's Read' that has been organised to support parents in encouraging their children to read. The programme is designed to be owned by and delivered in the community," she said As part of the day's activities the staff and their families enjoyed the programme which included tug of war, soccer, sac race, magic show and horse riding.
